"If we reject Deuteronomy and Leviticus (as all enlightened moderns do), by what criteria do we then decide which of religion’s moral values to accept} Or should we pick and choose among all the world’s religions until we find one whose moral teaching suits us? If so, again we must ask, by what criterion do we choose? And if we have independent criteria for choosing among religious moralities, why not cut out the middle man and go straight for the moral choice without the religion?"

*Do not stand at my grave and weep

I am not there. I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow.

I am the diamond glints on snow.

I am the sunlight on ripened grain.

I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you awaken in the morning’s hush

I am the swift uplifting rush

Of quiet birds in circled flight.

I am the soft stars that shine at night.

Do not stand at my grave and cry;

I am not there. I did not die.*

-Mary Elizabeth Fry

I saw this in a reddit Atheism thread about a guy who lost his daughter yesterday when she drowned in a hotel pool, they were supposed to go to Disney World. The thread currently has 814 comments from total strangers reaching out to a man who has just suffered what may be one of the greatest tragedies of his life.  No god will ever understand you as much as your fellow man, who has suffered just as you have. Hooray internet.
